Rob Sisson joined Republicans for Environmental Protection in the summer of 1999. He quickly took an active role in our Michigan chapter, eventually serving as chapter president. During the three years that he served as chapter president, REP's Michigan Chapter grew increasingly active and experienced a significant growth rate. He has continued that regional work as a member of our staff, carving out a niche for himself as REP's special advocate for the Great Lakes—which benefits a great cause while spreading REP's reputation throughout the region and bringing in new members who are attracted to that cause. In October 2006, he joined the REP staff as Membership and Development Director. In January 2009, he was promoted to President and CEO.

Energetic, active and well known in southwestern Michigan, where he takes part in many professional and civic organizations, Rob is a former mayor of Sturgis. During his tenure as mayor, the city became a national role model for its conservation innovations. In 2008, the Michigan League of Conservation Voters named him “Michigan Environmental Leader of the Year”. He served more than 20 years in the commercial banking industry and as president of the St. Joseph County Economic Development Commission. He was named Michigan's Small Business Advocate of the Year and also published a book, Financing the Small Business.

Rob was the only Republican elected official to speak at the Climate Change Action Day in Washington, DC, on March 20, 2007. Click here to read his speech.

Rob and his wife, Theresa, are the parents of twin boys. The family enjoys nature in northern Michigan and in western Wyoming and are avid fly fishers and hikers.
