State Profile
Mississippi
is a beautiful state of bottomland forests, cypress swamps, abundant
wildlife, and the biggest river in America, the mighty Mississippi.
Hunters, fishermen, birdwatchers, and campers enjoy the many scenic
wonders found in the national forests of Mississippi - the De Soto,
Tombigbee, Holly Springs, Homochitto, and the Delta. Fourteen national
wildlife refuges protect Mississippi's rich wildlife, including
American alligators, white-tail deer, bald eagles, migratory waterfowl,
and Mississippi sandhill crane. Wilderness areas can be visited within
Gulf Islands National Seashore.
Working
together, we can conserve Mississippi's scenic natural heritage for the
pleasure and benefit of future generations.
