Proud to Praise 'Em!

The House’s August 4 passage of an amendment to energy policy legislation setting a renewable energy standard (see Dave Jenkins' Washington Report) is a significant step forward for energy security, economic growth, and reducing climate change risks. The key Republican sponsor was Pennsylvania Rep. Todd Platts—a leadership role that is sure to win him extra credit in REP’s 2007 Congressional Scorecard. (Click here to download our 2006 Congressional Scorecard.)

Platts’ successful amendment to set a 15 percent standard for utilities to obtain energy supplies from renewable sources was a priority for REP, and we were actively involved in garnering GOP support.

The votes of the following 32 House Republicans were crucial in passing this important amendment. If one of them is “yours,” please go to the REP Action Center and send him or her a message saying you appreciate this vote. Don’t forget to mention that you’re a member of Republicans for Environmental Protection!
