Profile of a REP Leader:

Pennsylvania Chapter President Sandy Moser

Sandy Moser joined REP in the spring of 2003 and soon found herself filling a leadership position. It only took a couple of phone conversations for President Martha Marks to recognize that Sandy was the kind of energetic, enthusiastic state leader that the Pennsylvania REP group needed before it would be ready to form a chapter. As Martha said at the time to one of her board colleagues: “Sandy Moser reminds me of me!”

Sandy came to REP with impeccable “green GOP” credentials. Her long resume—as both a Republican and a conservationist, a volunteer and an elected official—is impressive.

She served as an elected Chester County Jury Commissioner for eight years, member of the East Brandywine Township Planning Commission for over twenty years, member of the Brandywine Hospital Board of Directors for five years, president of the Downingtown Good Neighbors Community Center for four years, member of the Chester County Health Board for two years, executive director of the Chester County Educational Foundation, and so on and on. Sandy is also a long-time member of the the Upper Main Line Council of Republican Women and the Republican Committee of Chester County (RCCC). In 1994, she was actively involved in the Tom Ridge for Governor campaign. In 2000 she served as the RCCC’s Volunteer Coordinator for the Bush for President Campaign.

Sandy’s environmental/conservation credentials are equally notable. She fought for years to save the east branch of the Brandywine River, where a public water company wanted to build infrastructure and withdraw up to one million gallons of water per day, feeding development and destroying the creek. Over the last year, she has won statewide appreciation for herself—and for our Pennsylvania REP chapter—by campaigning passionately in support of Growing Greener II... which won statewide voter approval on May 17, 2005.

As the president of the Pennsylvania Chapter of REP since its establishment in the fall of 2003, Sandy was our host for REP’s 2004 conference in Philadelphia, making sure we had a good venue, local speakers and field trips.

She also serves on the boards of the Pennsylvania Conservation Voters and her local bird club... which she proudly points out will be celebrating its 95th anniversary this fall.

Sandy and her husband, Warren, live in an historic mill owner’s house just outside Downington, Pennsylvania. They have two adult children and two friendly standard poodles.
