Legacy Holds Environment Dear

by Jim DiPeso, REP Policy Director
published in the Casper (WY) Star-Tribune,June 25, 2007

As soon as he walked into his new quarters in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Sen. John Barrasso was hit with a thousand issues and a thousand and one demands on his time.

So, we'll make this quick. Republicans for Environmental Protection respectfully urges Sen. Barrasso to continue Craig Thomas' fine legacy on public lands stewardship. Thomas was a champion of our national parks. In addition, he spoke up for balanced management of national forests and other public lands to ensure protection of their wildlife and scenic beauty.

Wyoming and America as a whole benefited from Thomas' intelligent leadership on these important issues. We hope Sen. Barrasso will carry on the Thomas tradition, and we wish him well as he begins his service in Congress.
