REP Congratulates Senator-elect Scott Brown
January 19, 2010
Republicans
for Environmental Protection (REP) congratulates Scott Brown on his
election to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts and for mounting a
well-run campaign.
Brown’s victory provides solid evidence
that the GOP can rebound quickly if it is willing to reweave Ronald
Reagan’s big tent philosophy.
"We are pleased at the
enthusiastic support that an independent-minded Republican gained in a
state as liberal as Massachusetts. It goes to show that Republicans can
win anywhere if they offer thoughtful candidates who have broad
appeal," REP President Rob Sisson said.
"We are confident that
Scott Brown will be a constructive voice in the U.S. Senate for
responsible environmental stewardship," Sisson added.
"We hope
that Senator-elect Brown’s arrival on Capitol Hill will foster more
bipartisan cooperation in the Senate on pressing environmental
issues—particularly efforts to address climate change," David Jenkins,
REP vice president for government and political affairs, said.
"We
look forward to working with Senator-elect Brown to pass legislation
that lives up to the stewardship ethic that is at the core of true
conservatism," Jim DiPeso, REP vice president for policy and
communications, said.
