As Maine GOP Platform Goes ... Off the Deep End

May 17, 2010

The platform adopted by the Maine Republican Party at its recent state convention calls for an investigation of the "collusion between government and industry in the global warming myth" and to "prosecute any illegal collusion."

The convention attendees have been ridiculed in the blogosphere as tinfoil-hatted conspiracy mongers, but we should not dismiss their charges in a hasty rush to judgment.

Arrhenius

Cleveland

Let’s look at the evidence for collusion. Scientists tell us that back in 1896, the link between atmospheric carbon dioxide and global temperatures was described mathematically by a Swedish scientist named Svante Arrhenius.

Just look at these photos. Wouldn't you agree that photographs of Arrhenius  clearly show that he bore an uncanny resemblance to Grover Cleveland, America’s president at the time, right down to the natty bow tie?

Suppose this supposed Svante Arrhenius was a fictitious character? Suppose that Svante Arrhenius WAS, in fact, Grover Cleveland? Could it be true that President Cleveland was the original mastermind of a vast, multi-generational conspiracy of power-grasping politicians, conniving titans of industry, and diabolical scientists plotting to dupe us into believing in the "global warming myth?" Does the trail of collusion lead straight to the White House?

The truth is out there!
