Palin's Absurd Argument
June 3, 2010
Sarah Palin has charged that
the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster is the fault of conservationists.
Here is a Twitter post where she helpfully shared her hypothesis:
“Extreme greenies: See now why we push ‘drill, baby, drill’ of known
reserves & promising finds in safe onshore places like ANWR?
Now do you get it?”
No, Sarah, we don’t, because your argument is absurd.
If the oil companies were asked which they would rather drill, the
Arctic refuge or the deepwater Gulf, they would likely say: “both.”
Which is what Sarah Palin used to say every chance she had before the
Gulf blowout rendered her advocacy of wide-open drilling, offshore as
well as onshore, politically off key.
Essentially, Palin now wants us to believe that if we turned the
pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge into an oilfield, there would
be no further demand to drill for oil in deepwater fields. And, we’re
also supposed to believe that oil-friendly politicians, including Sarah
Palin, would go along.
If she believes that we’d believe that, we’d be happy to send her the
deed to the Brooklyn Bridge. No charge.
