Republicans
for Environmental
Protection (REP), a national grassroots organization that includes many
elected officials, is pleased to endorse A.J. Otjen for the U.S. House
of Representatives from Montana.
"A.J.
Otjen will be an outstanding member of Congress. She is dedicated
to restoring the conservation ethic of President Theodore Roosevelt to
the Republican Party, and ensuring lasting stewardship of America's
natural heritage for the benefit of future generations," David Jenkins,
REP vice president for government and political affairs, said.
REP is
honored to support a candidate of Otjen's caliber. "We have
worked with many GOP candidates, and can honestly say that A.J. Otjen
ranks with the very best in her understanding of the conservative ethic
of stewardship and her commitment to public service," Jenkins said.
"Montana
deserves a member of Congress who sees the environment for
what it is - a foundation of our country's long-term strength,
prosperity, and quality of life. She knows that the environment is not
a bag of commodities to be used up but an endowment to be carefully
managed. As a member of Congress, she will fight for careful,
conservative management of our natural resources, developing clean
energy technologies, and protecting the lands that grow our country's
food. Otjen will be a great steward of America's natural capital," Jim
DiPeso, REP vice president for policy and communications, said.
"REP
endorses only strongly pro-environment Republican candidates for
office. We are thrilled that a candidate with Otjen's excellent
qualities is running for Congress and we are honored to give her our
endorsement," DiPeso said.
Republicans
for Environmental Protection is dedicated to resurrecting
the Republican Party's great conservation tradition and strengthening
its commitment to the responsible stewardship of our environment and
natural resources, protecting the achievements of great
conservation-minded Republicans such as Theodore Roosevelt.
"Republicans
were responsible for most of this nation's landmark
environmental laws and for protecting America's natural heritage. We
are fortunate that we have leaders like A.J. Otjen to carry on the
conservative tradition of conservation today," Jenkins said.
