REP
Endorses Reichardt for Michigan House Seat June 4, 2010
Republicans
for Environmental Protection, a national grassroots organization that
includes many elected officials, is pleased to endorse Field Reichardt
for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan’s 2nd
Congressional District.
"Field Reichardt will put his impressive business and public policy
background to work strengthening Michigan’s economy and protecting the
Great Lakes. As a fellow Michigan resident, I am confident that Field
will give high priority to good stewardship of the lakes, which are
critically important environmental and economic assets for Michigan,"
REP President Rob Sisson said. "He knows that conservation is
conservative, and is a critical part of the strategy for righting our
economy."
"We agree with Field that the Great Lakes face significant threats,
including invasive species, non-point source pollution from factory
farms, and the always-present danger that states outside the Great
Lakes watershed will seek to divert the lakes’ waters. As the next
member of Congress from the 2nd District, Field will ensure that real
progress is made restoring and protecting Michigan’s greatest natural
treasure," Sisson said.
"Field Reichardt proudly calls himself a Jerry Ford Republican. Like
our late 38th president, Field is a common-sense conservative who takes
stewardship of our country’s resources seriously and looks for
practical, mainstream solutions to public policy problems. As the
member of Congress for the seat that President Ford once held, Field
will deliver the leadership that we need to revive the economy and
secure lasting protection of our natural heritage," David Jenkins, REP
vice president for government and political affairs, said.
Republicans for Environmental Protection is dedicated to resurrecting
the Republican Party's great conservation tradition and strengthening
its commitment to the responsible stewardship of our environment and
natural resources, protecting the achievements of great
conservation-minded Republicans such as President Theodore Roosevelt.
"Republicans were responsible for most of this nation's landmark
environmental laws and for protecting America's natural heritage. We
are fortunate that we have leaders like Field Reichardt to carry on the
conservative tradition of conservation today," said Jim DiPeso, REP’s
vice president for policy and communications.
