Public Lands Legislation Enacted into Law with REP Support!
An
omnibus public lands bill strongly supported by REP passed Congress
with large, bipartisan majorities and was signed into law in 2009. The legislation includes significant conservation measures for
Virginia, including:
- Designation of nearly 40,000 acres in the Jefferson
National Forest as wilderness
- Designation of a wilderness study area and the
Kimberling Creek Potential Wilderness Area
- Establishment of Seng Mountain and Bear Creek
National Scenic Areas
- Designation of the Washington-Rochambeau
Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail, interpreting the climactic
battles of the Revolutionary War at Yorktown and Chesapeake Capes.
Kudos
to Congressmen Rob
Wittman and Frank
Wolf for supporting this important legislation.
